Matt was born in St. Bruno, Quebec, on September 16, 1974, to proud parents, Dave and Sue Elwell. At eleven months of age, Matt’s family (and unfortunately for him
:)) his older sisters, Leah and Andrea, moved to Princeton, BC. Matt grew up in Princeton, where he reportedly loved to give his Lego battle scars, playing with his next-door neighbor, Devon Herrick, and playing with the family daschund dogs.
As a teenager, Matt’s interest in music was heavily influenced by his older sisters. Leah and Sue, Matt’s mother, gave Matt a punk haircut that involved leaving the top of his hair very long and shaving the underneath. Matt had a friend pierce his nose. He spent many hours playing Dungeons and Dragons and having a great time cruising in his Dodge Dart with friends.

He worked at a few restaurants in Princeton,
before moving to Burnaby where he lived with his older sister,
Andrea and her husband, Tophey. During this time, Matt drove back to Princeton almost every weekend to see Holly, who was still in High School.
In 1995, Matt moved back to Princeton and worked for the Herrick family at Mr. Mikes Restaurant. He moved to Burnaby when Holly graduated from High School. He began working for Rocky Mountain Sprinklers, where he has worked for the last eight years. During this time, Matt completed an apprenticeship with his company and is now a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter. Currently, Matt lives with Holly and their little cat, Paisley, in a tiny Kitsilano apartment. He enjoys all that life has to offer, such as watching Canuck games at GM place, which fortunately for him, he reports is not as much fun as spending time with Holly.
